Coyote Girl 03:52
Coyote Girl (words & music by Paul Jensen) She grew up on the wrong side of New Orleans Never had a dime to her name But the local boys, she drove ‘em crazy just the same Raised on old Hank and Johnny And Bonnie Raitt sliding on down Her old man’s collection, heard it spinning round and round Standing in the shadows, waiting for a pearl She’s a Coyote Girl Doesn’t line dance with the ladies Doesn’t do shots with the boys They’re too busy movin’ to hear the music through the noise Buy she’ll take a neat pour of whiskey To take the edge off for a while And feel that rhythm take her somewhere deep inside Standin in the shadows, waiting for a pearl She’s a Coyote Girl She likes to sleep all day She’s gonna find her way She likes the rhythm and blues She wears her red boots She started pickin at nine, switched to mando by ten You know that twang, it makes her smile now and then Keeps on lookin ‘round for the right one She’ll keep on waiting ‘till then While another song makes her come around again Standing in the shadows, waiting for a pearl She’s a Coyote Girl She’s a Coyote Girl

Gosport 05:31
Gosport (words & music by Paul Jensen) You took a lot of men on your rocky shoals Wayfaring souls, stories untold Now they come from near and far Some with guitars, you know who they are They said they would come back to you Yes they did come back to you Gosport, you don’t ask why You won’t say goodbye You live free or die Gosport, are you looking for me? You gonna set me free Or keep me company? You’ve seen a lotta love and you’ve seen the pain Coming down like rain, needing you again And though they call you by a different name You know it's all the same, your Star Island fame They said they would come back to you Yes they did come back to you CHORUS Don’t ask me why I stayed away I wouldn’t know just what to say Are you out there standing by? You know you’ve seen me cry and reach to the sky And I know no matter where I roam I won’t be alone, when my spirit’s home I said I would come back to you Yeah, I did come back to you CHORUS

I Prefer Rye 03:19
I Prefer Rye (words & music by Paul Jensen) Once I took myself to the highlands Met a little lass so very fine But when she passed to me that Scottish whiskey For my favorite spirit I did pine It seems to me, when I’m in Tennessee That corn grows straight to the sky Thank you very kindly, there’s only one for me By and by, I prefer rye In St. Petersburg they take to drinkin’ With anyone, anywhere, at any time They can keep that tasteless stuff while I’m thinkin’ A little hair of the dog will suit me fine It seems to me, when I’m in Tennessee That corn grows straight to the sky Thank you very kindly, that vodka’s not for me By and by, I prefer rye Down in Mexico they drink tequila Up north we take it with some salt and lime But I don’t need that stuff with my fajita Just malted barley mash with corn and rye It seems to me, when I’m in Tennessee You take the sweet, I’ll take the dry Thank you very kindly, there’s only one for me By and by, I prefer rye

Just Hear Me 04:06
Just Hear Me (words & music by Paul Jensen) You should tell him this I wouldn’t give her that Take it from me Though I’m no diplomat In my opinion What I would do What are you hiding from? What’s wrong with you? Just hear me, Sshe said Just hear me It’s what I need right now I’ve been there before At least once or twice You ought to listen to me Take my advice I hate to see you like this It hurts me too How can I help you? What can I do? Just hear me, she said Just hear me I’m not looking for answers Just hear me, she said Just hear me It’s what I need right now And a-round and round we go Never listening, never know And around and around we go To where I don’t know I hear you baby I’ve been so blind Didn’t understand you But I do this time And I’ve been thinking Got it figured out Here’s how I see it Without a doubt

Eenie, Meenie, Miney (words & music by Paul Jensen) Life is full of choices, don't you know One can never be too sure, just let it roll So don’t you follow where I'm leading, don't you leave here when I go You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” You can’t catch a coyote by the toe They say that when he hollers, you have to let him go You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” One crazy night in London I should have known When I met that British girl after the show She looked me in the eye and said, “how far we gonna go?” I said “eenie, meenie, miney” and she said…“mo” You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” C’mon and put that baby on the po When he’s done you’re gonna wipe his bum And tell his momma what he’s done You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” If life just brings you rain and sleet and snow Should you take the high road or the low Just remember that what goes around comes back again, you know You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” You can’t catch a coyote by the toe They say that when he hollers, you got to let him go You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo” You say “eenie, meenie, miney” and I say “mo”

Hear You Breathing (words & music by Paul Jensen) Slow down They are slowing down From the hills to the valleys and across the towns She is on her way Yes, she is on her way On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing Slow down Feel him slow us down See the duck on the waves, in the moment he stays, going up and down He is on his way He is on his way And on a quiet day, we can hear him breathing Slow down You taught us to slow it down To hear the songs in the trees and our own melodies when they come around You are on your way Yes, you are on your way On a quiet day, we can hear you breathing Slow down I am slowing down Thinking of me and you, and a friendship so true, as I touch the ground I am on my way Yes, I am on my way On a quiet day, you can hear me breathing We are on our way Yes, we are on our way On a quiet day, you can hear us breathing

With You I’m Home (words & music by Paul Hennessee) Do you still remember, once upon a time? Love notes in our pockets, full of hopes & rhymes Travelin’ down the highway, blur of Texas pine Do you still remember, once upon a time? With you I'm home, with you I’m home No matter what the days’ll bring or where my thoughts roam Love will always bring me back…with you, I'm always home On a rainy Sunday, we walked down the aisle Packed our bags and headed west, lingered for a while California dreamin' to fruition made us smile On a rainy Sunday, we walked down the aisle Journeyed back to Texas, down to Houston Bay There, you found your calling; tried to find my way I stumbled but you held me up, you knew the words to say “For better or for worse, my love, things will be OK” Thru the years and thru the tears we made our way The good, the bad, and learned about the price to pay Look at where we’ve been; I'd do it all again any day-ay-ay. Then one day it happened, the City called our name Charmed by her beauty; we’ll never be the same Now we’ve settled down and there’re 4 players in our game Looking to the future; one thing's never changed. With you I'm home, with you I'm home No matter what the days’ll bring or where my thoughts roam Love will always bring me back…with you, I'm always home Our love will always bring me back...with you I'm always home, With you I’m always home I’m always home

Listening to the Wind (words & music by Paul Jensen) Life was simple in nineteen eighty one Nowhere to go but no need to run Love was all around us, but we were too cool for that Let that open road ahead take us anywhere You were only seventeen I was only seventeen We were only seventeen and listening to the wind One night after the show, said I’m done Better off with my friends than here with none Always looking around for you, but you were never hard to find I can only hear when I am are listening But I was only seventeen And you were only seventeen We were living in between and listening to the wind Was ten years or more when I got that call News I didn’t understand at all Was it the end of the innocence, or time for us to begin? You were there for me just like you had always been When you were only seventeen And I was only seventeen We were only seventeen and still listening to the wind
9.
May Never Get to Heaven (words & music by Paul Jensen) Daddy, you were born with your back against the wall Though you could read and write no one understood you at all Your mamma and your papa always told you wrong from right But they never showed you love or kissed you at night You may never get to heaven, no you may never get there at all Why’d you keep yourself all alone behind that wall? You may never get to heaven, no you may never get there at all But don’t let that keep you from standin’ tall Now before too long you’d found your place to run After all you were only doin’ like your daddy had done You found the bottle was a shot to numb the pain Before you found the strength to go out and get miserable again You may never get to heaven, no you may never get there at all Why’d you keep yourself all alone behind that wall? You may never get to heaven, no you may never get there at all But don’t let that keep you from standin’ tall No don’t let that keep you from standin’ tall Now momma became bitter as the years passed her by And though she tried to help you, sometimes she wondered why “He’s got a job, a home and two fine boys, I don’t understand,” she’d say But you never were much for sharing your feelings anyway They say that heaven is for those without sin But when the odds are stacked against you sometimes you just can’t win All is forgiven, all is understood You’ve always made me proud, just like I knew you would

about

It didn't take long to realize that we had shed our cover band roots and were about to create "Yet Another F*#cking Americana Album" -- a working title for this creative effort. One part rock 'n roll, two parts alt-country twang. We wound up with an honest record: “real” instruments, no click track, few overdubs and effects. Musicians actually playing together, funnily enough. Tracked faithfully in the next best place to Nashville or Memphis: Brooklyn, NY.

Here you’ll find songs of love, loss, lust and liquor. Tracks 1-5 pay homage to the songwriting craft, while 6-9 take a more personal turn, honoring those for whom we are so grateful.

So slow it down, pour a whiskey, and turn it up. We hope you enjoy the listening as much as we did the making.
